You have a pecan that will grow at the lake?

No chestnut . The Dunstan hybrids are American x Chinese . Multiple generation remixes . The American chestnut once grew that far north . I think they rate these at zone 4 but with the American chestnut genes in there I think they are worth trying there .

Anyone grow Siberian pea shrub . Thinking of growing some . Said to make seeds good for humans and chickens/wildlife . I have tree seeds coming today . Mostly stuff that will not grow at the lake . Persimmon , Paw Paw , Pecan and Hybrid chestnut . The Dunstan type chestnut might grow there .

Caragana. We planted it at the Farm for a wind row down in St. Cloud. You'll see it around. There's some here at work on a hill side by the lake. But it's a bit invasive from my understanding and it's not really recommended any more by the DNR. I think I heard a blurb on that. I don't know though for sure. It was something people planted alot in the 70's and 80's and now I don't really see it planted any more or used.

That site gives some nice alternatives there. We got some High bush cranberries from the NWTF. And they are beautiful bright red leaves in the fall. I will say that the deer definitely keep them browsed down though. I don't have the 5 - 15 footers after these years. Maybe I should fence them a few years to give them a chance.

Yep. I know where you are talking about. They are pretty big there. I think where you turn by the airport there.
They smell wonderful in the spring when they are blooming. But I guess when it comes to woods and waters I'm not for invasive species.

Hello everyone... I did a dumb and got sprayed by a skunk tonight while shooting it.... He has been getting in the "cat garage" the past few nights amd eating the catfood and I finally saw him and chased him a long ways from the house and shot him but the smell came back with me and ggoooodddd night does it smell...

Here's what my dad says: try to live trap skunks. Never shoot in the barn. Place a towel or blanket over the trap, or use a pvc pipe trap( you can find instructions for skunk traps using pipe online). Haul it far away into a field. Remove covering slowly if live trap, stand upwind, and don't miss the brain stem when you shoot.
But I suspect that you already knew all this.

Be a good shot and not have to trap them is what I say. I have never trapped a skunk and never want to, what mess.
My total for shooting and trapping this year is I think 4 or 5 skunks, 1 smaller raccoon, one monster raccoon, and 3 beavers. I wish i was able to do more stuff with the coyotes, we have so many out here it is ridicoulous. Hopefully I can add a big buck this fall though

Jerry, I would not suggest Caragana. It is invasive. Viburnum Trilobum is ok. Ninebark is a good shrub and there are quite a few varieties to choose from.
There are likely varieties of Lilac that would accomplish what you desire. Potentilla can be worth investigating. Several different flower colors to choose from and will bloom continuously through the summer.
