Surviving Minnesota!

I have a whole new respect for Jerry and anyone else who is building. Between cooking meals for my workers, keeping my little workers out of trouble, and being the chauffer to and from the Lumber Yard because of missing materials, I feel the onset of a few gray hairs. I am very appreciative of my laborers and the really good sleep I have been getting the last couple of weekends.

Below is a picture of my husband and brother in law....waiting for ridge cap. As they look down through the roof they see their kids building something on the inside of the shed.

Hey Dad! Look what we are building.....Little RIP signs....... for the chickens when they die. (Excuse my nephews they are not accustomed to livestock deaths. Everything is a pet to them.) Well the guys on the slippery roof took it to be RIP signs for themselves and had a little fun with the kids.

Below is a picture of my lumber yard screw up.....They did not send side wall steel for the "old shed", they missed a sheet of steel for the 8 foot sliding door and missed 2 whole sheets of roof steel for the old shed. All in all it will be a very nice hatchery/ grow out area..... My husband says in 10 years when this fad passes he is turning it into his wood shop. Little does he know he may want to heat more than just one small room because with comments like that it may turn into his dog house!

My dad dropped off a few nesting boxes he made out of some old fruit crates. The birds still have a good 5 weeks or more before they might start laying. The rooster just started his last juvenile molt. But I popped them into the coop with some grass as bedding. So far the chicks are hiding on the opposite side of the coop from the boxes. Heh.

Saw the fox again today. Coulda shot it but my vegan sister chased it away. She only visits once every couple years thankfully.

Very quiet here for sure.

Good news I can run on the ankle as long as its wrapped. I can't move fast on it though. I am playing tomorrow so hopefully everything stays good. I ordered an ankle brace but its not in yet so I am borrowing someones.

I did go on a couple hour walk in the woods this morning. No hen. 3 different types of bolletes. Not sure what they are, doing spore drops now.
