Surviving Minnesota!

Fake hamburger has played a role in taming them...HOWEVER, forgetting to pay with hamburger after a good session can result in a set back.

I did have Mnchickmom's number one son try to reach into a brother of the psycho twins cage. He refused, so I stuck my hand in about 3 inches and the birds managed to bounce off all four walls and the ceiling 50 times in 30 seconds.
Only 50? Bet my lorp can make 200.

If I did not have a "willing Buyer" for him.....rofl...

Actually this guy is headed to the pipe cutter soon....

I could not sell him to anyone he is such a jerk.
Same with my lorp, he's mean and it's too much of a bother to re-train him just to give him away.

Mine is the one that ripped all the feathers off the back of his head. I cannot put him in with another bird or he tries to kill it or goes nuts.

The smart thing would have been to wring his neck 4 months ago and used him for fox bait. I might use him for yote bait (live bait) and see if I can find a young stupid yote that will enter a live trap.

The really nice one?

We shoot the birds before we use them as bait, because if the humane society ever found out they might go nuts.

I am going to make a cage that clips behind the live trap so the bird is safe,,,,,he just might be scared poopless though.
they make these traps

You guys, I am going to have too many newbie questions on here :)...I apologize in advance.

Trying to figure out when to place my chick order. Books say at 6 wks to introduce them to the coop as long as night temps are above 50. In the Twin Cities, that puts us into late May, early June. So working backwards, do I shoot to have the chicks arrive in mid-April sometime?

Also, where is the best place to order from to get just 6? These are the ones we would like: Silkie Bantam, Brahma, Ameraucana, Australorp, Orpington, and Rhode Island Red/Production Red.
