Wow Ralphie, good luck in keeping that comb as is over the winter. He best be in a heated coop or be the designated house chicken ? Nice photos by the way.

Nice eater there DwayneNLiz. That is if you like venison, otherwise you could sell him to Arby's ?

Jerry, I would be very very surprised if a Persimmon would survive a typical zone 3 winter. Having said that, I will tell you we had a Peach tree volunteer from a discarded Peach pit when I was a kid. It grew for several years but was killed in an excavation project. Location was in metropolitan Barnum, so metro area temp modification may have helped. If you were to relocate your cabin to the shore of Lake Superior you would have a good chance of it surviving, but there is a difference between surviving and thriving !

BC, yes there was much damage from the unruly Lake Superior yesterday in Duluth, Port Wing, Ashland and parts unknown. Official snow accumulation at Dul. Int. Airport was reported to be 10.2 inches. I think I got a little more than that at my place. It is 30 degrees as I type and not much warmer in the forecast for the next 2 weeks. It will not likely melt any time Soon ?!
