Surviving Minnesota!

Morning peeps! Congrats to all at the show! We will also enjoy more photos of all the up coming new birds, birds kids. I've had a rough couple of weeks. my Boy, my Australian shepherd, has been throwing up since sunday night (he was fine all day sunday) and throwing up since. this morning at 5:30 he had a seisure. 800.00 later at the emergency vet, they don't know what is going on. or even if the throwing up and seizure is related. They gave him fluids, and anti-nausea meds. he is also very weak and wobbly, staggers when he walks. I'm worried sick. I've had many dogs, but Brox has my heart. I hope he starts showing signs of improvement. The only thing we can figure is he ate something in the yard, but don't know what... something rotten or molding in the compost?, maybe a neighbor poisoned a gopher and it came over?, or put poison along the fence line? we don't know... we are waiting to hear from our regular vet to see what he thinks...

I'm so sorry for your pooch I hope he recovers soon. :hugs

I just saw this article, my cats have been eating this brand of food. Although they only mention dog food.

Well thank you for this information Erlibird. My dogs definitely display one of the symptoms - that of hysterical barking. They have been getting in so much trouble the past few days. They ALWAYS bark more when the moon is almost full - drives me crazy and they get locked down alot.

Thank you all for your concern and prayers. He is resting right now from pain meds.

Cluckies please let us know as soon as you hear something. Praying this will pass and he will be healthy again.

So far they don't know what is going on. I'm leaning towards him having 2 issues. He was on IV all day at the vet, and an opiod for pain. he is home now, appears not much better at least he is resting better, but they close at 6pm. we'll have to see if he starts eating tomorrow. we tried rice and turkey hamburger tonight, was not interested.

My puppy has a back problem since he was young. one time he lost the use of his back legs for 3 days, was put on a intervenous steroid, then pills, he still goes to the chiropractor, no running jumping, etc. I think this may be related. he throws up when he is in pain. he is also wobbly and stumbling. They say a back issue won't cause a seizure... so we'll see. only problem is our main vet (Dr. Joel at all pets in zimmerman - best vet ever) was out on farm calls all afternoon and surgery in the morning, and does not work wednesdays :( it is very scary here. I get where I cannot eat myself when animals and husbands are sick around here.

How old is he?
He is 8.
