Great.Well I went in the coop to further test my rooster powers. And I think we caught Mr Rooster's developing bad behavior at the right time. I toppled him over twice yesterday, barely a push with my nearly slipper like Steger mukluks. This morning he retreated very quickly as I stepped into the coop. Of course the hens want to overpower me and charge the door (you know, so they can hide in a bush 5 feet from the coop all day).

My ducks come tumbling out of the coop in a rush, gulp down a pan of feed, and then go sit in the woods all day.It is amazing how fast they can leave the coop..just to go hide somewhere else for the day..
In my chicken flock the old birds vanish into the woods, the young ones sit in a clump of trees by the new coop, and the dumb AMs sit right in front of the dog run. If they aren't all taken by hawks before next summer I'll be amazed.Mine run out and a few go to the wild bird feeders to get the "droppings" the rest either go to the lilacs,,30 feet from their coop or to the woodshed 100 feet from their coop..
It depends on which cliche they belong too..
