Surviving Minnesota!

This is what I would look like if the things I say I want her to do actually happened or I voiced them to her...

I like her a lot. She had a funny U to the back but that appears to be the way she was standing. Her barring is good. Her head is as good as you can get, IMHO. I did not see the comb up close but that is only 4-5 points at most, if they even use points...

The skirt, keel and breast are good. She is a keeper...(CHICKEN THIEF!!!)...

The rooster is OK but the back line stinks... You might want to make a trip down here. I think I have a smaller wattle, better U shaped rooster you can have. I am done breeding (I hope) so I will not need the back ups.

I saw one in the future soup pen that looked pretty good today. I feel bad having to soup them, but that's what happens to the extras..
I didn't steal this one! She is one of the chicks that Momofmany brought me on her way home from your place!

The male really looked good when he was young but he developed some flaws... I have a few eggs from him and the Dom pullet and we will see how they develop...

Since I don't keep turkeys and I have the pleasure of jousting here on 'Surviving Minnesota' I don't keep up with the Turkey thread. I really only have one thread. LOL.

Let me guess. You are secretly feeding birds right out your door on the deck and they have left some manure for Judy to chisel off her new paint job.... and you declare you don't understand why they are coming up on the deck. I think I got some bits and pieces from a post on here...somewhere not too long ago...? How am I doing?

My little babies are growing up. At nearly 28 weeks now, I let them out of the coop and the rooster promptly stands upon the middle hen. I remember when they were just little balls of yellow fluff *sniff* ;) They grow so fast (not really).

DS tied frozen Sylvia with some aluminum wire around her legs and then her wing too. Around 3:00ish. Staked her in. At 4:05ish he looked out to see our beautiful fox flipping the wing and playing with it. Sort of cute he said. At 4:05 and 15 seconds a .22 bullet hit that beautiful animal in the chest. It ran like heck through the woods to the lake shore along and up to where it crossed private property and lake homes. And then down into one that had people up with lights on and shoveling an ice rink. It was dark. We had a rifle. We had to give up the search for the pelt. But it bled good in a couple spots. We are certain it will fall asleep in the snow tonight for the last time.

Sean is still with us. He had an ok day but still major muscle injuries or something. Two more days and then decisions will be made I think...
