Surviving Minnesota!

Hi everyone, So I was able to install one more short n long vent on the run side of the coop. Had an interesting experience. I propped open the coop door for the girls to wander out and about. Just one really wanted out. She's very friendly. I was calling her back to the coop to show her how I propped the door a tiny bit and she could come and go as she pleases. I called her an whistled. She came right over and when I was trying to get her to look at te door she must've thought I wanted her to come
More and she jumped up
Onto my arm! She's a fun hen-like a dog
Really. She likes to be petted too. She also was "knocking" on the door for me yesterday while I was in the garage. I never knew chickens could be so interactive and fun. ;)

Apparently I have some wimpy chickens. My son just opened the pop door for them, they haven't been out in any snow yet and it's a nice balmy 18F today. Two of the four said, "hell no' and went back inside right away. Right now one is perched by herself inside while the others are wandering around. That could be the one my son put on his sled and carried around for a while, she's probably traumatized.

First year birds are really dumb about snow.

My PC hen and my chantecler rooster were the only ones to willingly go out this morning. Everyone else stayed in. Granted it was -5 then.

The blue cochin hen is either going broody or getting ready to start laying. I am hoping it is laying.
