Surviving Minnesota!

Just think in 6 months we will be getting fresh tomatoes . Going to try Lupine flowers this year . I see they do well up north . They hate IL heat . So the packet says sow where you want them . They do not transplant well .
We grow LOADS of Lupines every year at our place in town and they do great. They are stunning and come back every year.

Yes Jerry, they run rampant here. Even the hybrids which you can get from the seed houses will volunteer from seed. About 30 years ago I got seed from Park Seed as I recall. I am still getting volunteers even though the bed they were originally in has long since been turned into lawn.

Wow, that's ridiculous! People always want something for nothing. :hmm

I'm a softee and people are usually driving 90+ minutes each way, so I come down pretty often (without being asked). But can sell hens all day long it seems like, though sometimes it will take a couple weeks to get good buyers. I only know this because life has ups and downs and I decided to "liquidate" a couple times... only to decide this is part of my life and I'm not willing to completely give it up. One family drove 5 hours each way and stayed the night in a motel... because their daughter wanted pink eggs, that they saw in my ad on craigslist for eating eggs. They bought 12 birds for $150. It was a real blessing to share with them though. At first I was all sad to be giving up my flock but it turned into the joy of sharing something with a little girl. :love

Interesting to see the difference in markets though. :hmm

How far up do you go

I know what one is :tongue but I still can't believe people do it.

That's just craziness.
Why?

Ok knee update . Friday took a 2 mile hike hunting . No down time after . Walking near normal . So I will go again this week . Getting cabin fever . Muddy mess here . Wandered around the garden and fruit trees . My Hudar pear graft may bloom this year . It has fruit spurs so maybe this year .

Heat+ice=water. . I don't get how it doesn't eventually melt the ice and drown you.
Because the ice is so thick that you can hold bonfires on it. Sure, the top bit gets soupy, but there is several feet of ice and the cold greatly outweighs any warmth that is put on the ice.

Jerry, so pleased you are getting such great results from your knee 'experimental' treatment. Sounds like you are getting your own special physical therapy in which is perfect. Use it the way you normally would.
I too, am getting antsy for spring weather and planting stuff again. Could really go with some productive tomatoes this year. They did very poorly last year for me.

Really??
You think a little 5,000 BTU heater will melt the ice??? Really?

Do you have any idea how thick the ice is here?

Ralphie I feel the politicos have sucked you away a bit. Will hang out here still though for dropped tidbits. Glad to see some more posts. :ya
I have one more busy month and I should be back more...I just hope not altogether.
