Surviving Minnesota!

I have scion wood of Illinois everbearing and Hicks overbearing coming . Very good selections from wild mulberries . I have one that is very tasty . Most are kind of bland . Most here are natural hybrids between our native Morus Rubra and the imported Morus Alba . Alba was imported for silk worm food and became invasive . Alba is bland and Rubra is tasty .

Anyone ever eat chicken feet ? I had some at a Chinese buffet yesterday . Seasoned nicely . Sure not much on them .
Do mulberries grow where you are ? They grow here . Chickens love the fallen fruit . Never saw mulberries in the far north .
I can't quite convince myself to eat chicken feet. I know where those things have been, and what they're usually covered with. :sick

We have mulberry trees all over our farm here on the prairie.

I forgot to mention that I saw my Buff Irpington breed for the first time day before last and he has been a lot more rambunctious so breeding season is almost here. I can’t get any fertile eggs to save my life and I’m considering throwing my hands up for the 4H poultry show:lau This darn weather is a pain the butt!:he:rolleyes::barnie

AMEN TO THAT! - I had my first ever Day 18 candling in which over 50% went into the Hatcher. Other than that I have been battling 30% fertility rates. It may have been due to the stern talk I had with all the males in the barn.

Here is the full version of the talk in case anyone wants to utilize it.
" Fellas get your job done or you will become my dinner guest.....and I mean business. I will be utilizing this (wave a soup laddle) for you instead of to collect your potential offspring."

I am feeling the same way. I will have hens and cocks but if I have any pullets or cockerels I will be suprised. If I do hage some hatch they will be a little over 4 months at county, and 5 at state. Not happy with that but I guess if that is how it is going to go...
