Some pictures of our keeper heifers....

This first heifer is a dandy.. She is pushing 950 lbs and isn’t even a year old yet. Her grandma is still in the herd along with two of her aunts and mother. Lots of good milk in this cow family... (I wish she was standing a little more square so she looked better lol.

This heifer is another nice one. Could use a little more guts but her sister was the same way and now is the biggest heifer we have... She is around 850-900lbs

This heifer has two sisters, a niece and her mom still in the herd. She is a little leggy for my liking but she had a lot more guts than this picture makes her look. She too is around 850-900lbs

This is probably the biggest a and thickest heifers in the group. She is going to be a TANK of a cow! She is pushing probably around 900-950.

We are supper happy with this set of heifers. They aren’t fancy but can get out and move. I’m not a fan of the fancy show cattle but love the big old commercial cows.. These will all be bred to an Angus clone bull in June for calving next April.

These gals (24 in quantity) are mixture of production reds and white leghorns. They have 3 male white leghorns to contend with. For a total of 27 in this brooder. They are Murray McMurray chicks. I have battled pasty butt with them this week.

These guys and gals (39 in total) are my feb 25 hatch. They also had their share of pasty butt. (6 that needed cleaning). But my resident poop inspectors made quick work of sorting and teasing me about drawing the short straw and having to actually do the cleaning deed. The picture was taken immediately after being inspected/cleaned so they are all grouped together.

Yes I am mnchickmoms better half also the facility manager and in charge of new construction of the hatchery coop and what ever others projects she comes up with. I have been following for a while had to get my own account because someone got tired of me asking what’s happening on BackyardChickens. So now I introduced myself I’ll have to post more often.

Welcome to the Minnesota froo-fa-la. Mr. MCM. It's nice to have the spouses on here. DH asks if any additions have been made to Ralphie's Redneck lists and classes every once in a while. But alas Chickens are 'my deal'.
i.e.
Me: "Will you help me butcher that extra cockerel."
DH: "No. Chickens are your deal."

DH: "You should do this and that with your coop."; "you shouldn't butcher THAT rooster. He's got character." (Rapist)
Me: "This is 'my deal'." Ignore.

us Lady folks shouldn't have too much fun MCM without them.

BC beware . Foxes should have pups in March . More mouths to feed . I have seen pups out first week in May .

Oh God. The population is saturated. They are eating out of old ladie's hands around here at all the lake cabins. DH must come home with a story every day about the blue hairs feeding their red little friends.

Ok so I had to glove up today and check the cow today because she had a smell to her and sure as heck she has an RP. So I worked on it a little with no luck so I gave a dose of penicillin in hopes to help loosen it up a little... I will try again tomorrow and if that doesn’t work we will get a uterine bolus to help loosen it up more... The bolus also helps prevent any infection and will shrink the uterus down again...

Gosh Holm! Are you going to be a vet one day?! Wow, kiddo!

I had a fun night last night, except I was forced to wear a suit and a tie, two things I am allergic too...

Oh, and the fact they all took shots at me for no reason at all.

That's a sign they are scared of you. Ralphie hang in there as it will probably get worse before it gets better...?

I have no idea. But I doubt it, only the candidates could have it videoed, or the news media. I think there was only print news there though...The Foley TV station is a little low on video tape this month.

There was on family that was videoing with their phone. They only video taped when a certain canidate was speaking.

BC I would LOVE to be a vet.... But for now I am going to try get a job at L&M... Maybe just maybe I could work in the feed department...
