Surviving Minnesota!

We are in for a short summer.

I just heard a rather loud lightning retort (thunder)... 6 months from the first lightning is first frost. It appears we are scheduled to have frost on September 4th this year.

I hope this does not cut into anyone's Labor Day plans.
Frost on September 4 sounds much nicer than frost on August 4. I'll take it!

You didn't have to tell that, debby downer :tongue

I am sorry, but my oath as a politician demands I tell nothing but the truth and the whole truth.......

Besides Did you really want your freezer and shelves over flowing with home grown veggies from your garden? Wouldn't you rather stimulate the economy by buying all your over winter supplies?

Morning. It has started to snow and drizzle here

It has slowed to a drizzle here, It was a down pour an hour ago.

Back to the frost on September 4th, when I heard the thunder, I was going "no, no, no, no, no".

The old saying "six months from the first lightning to the first frost" was something my Grandpa and Dad would say and mark every year on the calendar.

I believe the simple act of marking it on the calendar etches it into the memory of Mother Nature, so I never do that. Instead I mark the first lightning in June on the calendar to fool Mother nature into giving us a few extra months.

I just went out and opened the coop....It is a terrible day out there, not even fit for a DUX.

While I was opening the door to the coop frozen rain drops (whatever they are called) started pelting my head and shoulders.

It was not fun, beings I was being lazy and had not gotten dressed I opened the Coop BC style. I think I have to change my undershirt now or freeze all day.

This is starting to be a day I will not enjoy much.

I wish I had a DUX, so I could make a sacrifice to Mother Nature.

This time of year I have pajama bottoms. Duh. People this is Minnesota.

:lau

Undie runs are for may June July August and September. Albeit precarious with fiend roosters and mosquito swarms.

BB playoffs last night. We progress to the south conference championship game. :wee

We are vehicle shopping for two 16 year olds. I hate car shopping. Doing it for somebody else is less fun I must say.
