Hey everybody, I'm new to BYC and live up by Pequot. We only have two roosters so far but getting a straight run of chicks next month. I'm repurposing my old fish house for a coop and have enough caging for a 512 sq ft run. I believe they are Red Stars

Ok. Next week I think I'm going to keep 8 eggs to try to hatch. I'm hoping for a broody hen, but may borrow an incubator. Should take me close to a week to get the 8 eggs.

So far I have figured this....

1. Store eggs somewhere cool and dry, pointy-side down, turning them a couple of times a day.

Then what?!

Well, you've got a start. What incubator? Piece of advice---run away screaming from all of the LG models. Unless you have 21 days of your life to devote to being a broody.

Ok kindergarten class is asking about eggs. Ralphie you have doms , ss, pc’s anything else? Ee’s? Clb ‘s?

I have Rhode Island reds, buff Orpington, Buckeyes, Dominique’s.

No idea. I still have to ask for it. I was hoping for a broody but I'm getting impatient and it takes me awhile to collect eggs.
