Surviving Minnesota!

DH is skinning and tanning this thing even though it has 6 holes in it. (Foxes dont go down too easily) They are so pretty.

I really think he's been working on my mouse population all winter, mostly. Which seems to be down a ton. No mouse poop in the feed. Just that besides the mice he likes my chickens as well....dangit. Why can't we work together here?!
I know, right?? I think the mink I had last winter was working on my mouse population before it discovered the chickens. Or maybe it ran out of mice and that's why it started on my birds.

Do you know if it's something general like a styro or not... or is it just 'an incubator' and that's all you know?
We've spoken in very general terms. He says he's had good luck in the past, but isn't hatching any now. Offered it up for use. I have no doubt I'll habe questions for you all tonight.

DD came in excited today. Her first-ever 4 egg day from the 4 PCs.

Great. Give us information on turner/no turner fan/no fan etcetera because that impacts proper incubation protocol. :fl

What brand?

Em. I have not ever bought an incubator but I have heard for home hatching etc...Brinsea octagon (24 eggs) or for me (7 egg) is the way to go. Just my two cents and from reliable company (Kindergarten class has been turning out chicks like crazy on that Brinsea Octagon 24 egg incubator) .

Yeah Bobbi. I do feel bad on that fox. And all the men are going to laugh at me. Hahaha. But I really don't relish that beautiful animal is dead knowing also that the feed led to the mice and led to those trails to my coop. ugh. But it is a tale as old as time and now we deal with it. It's caught up to me here now. Luck has run out on not having an issue for 5 1/2 years.

I found hardware cloth purchases went without trepidation after our chicken loss at Christmas. Money flowed a lot easier. And that's not a usual thing here. :lau ah shoot :gig

These foxes we've got have been caught on eratic schedules. Kids home when they usually aren't has been our luck. Smart little foxies.

MinnieChickMama had Barnies and she loved them. I would love one. I'd take the orp too.

No polish if you are a free ranging. They do not see the aerial preds.
I've had Sultans, which are basically Polish only with feathered feet. I lost my last one to a hawk last fall. Even with trimmed crests they are still pretty retarded.
