Surviving Minnesota!

We have a slough just across the road from us that has hundreds and hundreds of geese during the migration. The eagles follow the geese. We have had up to 75 eagles in our grove, the grove across the road and in various trees around that slough at times. (Not many yet this year, but then the water is a little "hard" for the geese right now. We also have a nesting pair of bald eagles less than a mile from our place.

I can't imagine what could have happened to that neighbor dog. *cough, cough* Must have had an accident or something...

Some dogs are just down right careless.

Sounds like what happened to the coons at the lake . Mentioned the lack of coons to a neighbor . He said we had a couple of bad winters . Cough . I suspect that is not the rest of the story . Not that I miss the little devils .

Some coons just can't handle certain environments.

My dog usually takes care of them when he finds them. He's killed several over the past couple of years. It would just be nice if he wouldn't do it under my open bedroom window in the middle of the night.

I have only lost birds to Coons and at the old farm we lost one to an owl. At the farm here we have a lot of Coyotes, Mink, a few weasel, LOADS AND LOADS OF Owls! We have two pairs of ground nesting hawks that nest in the hay field each year and a pair of red tails that nest in the tree line. Never have had a bird of prey (hawks and eagles) kill a bird and we have a lot of both. We aren’t far from a wild life refuge that is full of nesting eagles so there is always eagles flying here... Other than coons the rest aren’t a problem. The only thing I would worry about is the occasional bear that’s around... We have a few skunks too but they don’t last long here... They get a hard form of lead poisoning...

We have lost a few birds to a fox that was rather fearless and braisen and lost a few eggs to a ______skunk. (Fill in your own term...but it sprayed the interior of my coop and me!

Bahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha Nothing like getting sprayed by a skunk!
