Morning guys. The little chick that could decided it couldn’t through the night. I got the swelling down yesterday and the range of motion much improved, but he seemed to have given up on food, so I think it was his time and he looked like he went peacefully. I’m down to two of my four Brahmas now, as I got home midday yesterday and found one that we believe got ‘dogpiled’. This is how it goes sometimes with chicks? Hoping to be on the home stretch out of the fragile stages. As a first time chick raiser, it’s a challenge to lose them still. Just hoping to stay at 14 out of 16. On a positive note, every other chick else seems to be thriving, so here’s pictures of baby chickens.

My free roo seems to change color daily, the spot devolved on the back of its head and there are gray areas showing up. Interested to see what it becomes.

I’m impressed at just how fast these meat birds grow. Size difference at the same age between a Red Ranger and a Black Sex Link.

Stringbean pile ups are a problem . Round is better . They sell corrals that are round . Watch out for feeders like rabbit or small pig feeder . They will pile up in those .

Unfortunately the pile up seemed to happen under the MHP, if that is even what happened. All my temps are on and everyone shows to be getting the right heat and all so I don’t know what I could have done to prevent it.

We are at six degrees outside. I feel like winter is starting, not ending.
