On another note, chicken math hit the BF. He felt bad about the lost Brahmas and was talking about ordering four more since our other chick shipment is still delayed. (He never even wanted the Brahmas!) Then he started talking about wanting to raise some turkeys this summer. Hes lost his sensibility and has gone bird crazy.

I switched my feeders and waterers back to these things... Bird can’t waste feed or get crap in their water... Have I ever told you guys I love my Buff ladies I can’t wait for more babies from them!

BTW I am hoping this new male will fix the tails on these! I’ve got a lot of work to do but I have a good start with these birds!

Unfortunately the pile up seemed to happen under the MHP, if that is even what happened. All my temps are on and everyone shows to be getting the right heat and all so I don’t know what I could have done to prevent it.

We are at six degrees outside. I feel like winter is starting, not ending.

I found that to happen under them and they got stuck in weird places with it, then died. While the idea is great, I found the actual use of it lacking and went back to heat lamps. If you want something other than a heat lamp I suggest you try the heating "plates" they make for chickens. They sit on them. There is a thermostat built into them so they do not get too hot.....Some times the old way is just the simplest and best.

I am going to try a new feeder too. The search for the perfect feeder goes on,and on, and on.

I am finding those I made are jamming and the feed is packing in the throat just before the feeder part.
