I don’t think I’ll be seeing snow...I have noticed the weather at work is normally fairly similar to at home.

It was almost 60 here yesterday in my part of MN, and ALL of our snow was gone and turned to mud. Now, we are supposed to get 4-7 inches Will it ever end??? I'm hoping it'll be less than they keep saying, but we seem firmly in the 4-7 inch band. At least we aren't in the huge amounts like some of you! I'm already tired of all the muddy dog prints tracked through my house too, I just want summer!!

we are up north by Brainerd and it is just windy and looks like the precip line will be to the south. some snow piles are still butt high LOL i'm ready for THAW and maybe the mud by the coop will dry up. it is like a mud moat around there

my incubator gets warmed up this weekend. i need another 3 weeks to get things cleaned up outside before i can think about handling chicks!

Maybe with the colder temps it's taking the littles a bit longer to develop and deciding if they want to hatch into a WINTER!

6 years ago today-- on a Friday the 13th -- I brought home 9 little fuzz balls that cost me about $36 at L & M. I do not care to share the other outlying expenses, housing, experimentations on feeders/waterers, etc. It is long forgotten with the turn and tip of a fuzzy butt up in the air as they quietly graze on sunny green slopes.

What lessons they've brought me. My kids. My husband. Everyday there seems to be a chicken story and smile.

TFred. Those young Moms crack me up. She'll be glad for any direction from you I'm sure. Their behavior is fun to hear about and to watch no doubt. Sunny might find broodiness contagious. But basically hens will share duties if it suits them all. I saw cochins swapping chicks here and there down at Triplell's place down in Brainerd. It was amazing and none of the Moms seemed to care. I will say not all hens are like this though and grafting betwixt hens is not a given.

I have always seperated my broody in a hutch with her own personal feeder and waterer. Because I was more worried about broken developing eggs by other layers. But also she just needed quiet time to do her job.

Here this chick hatched on an opening Walleye weekend -- 17 degrees out.

Oh Man I wish we had violets and may flowers now...looking at that photo. They will come....

Not me! I hope...

It hit here about 2:00. We have about 4" of snow already. It took me twice as long as normal to get home from school today, as they didn't decide to close until AFTER it started snowing. Then we had to wait for buses to come get the students... We got out at 2:40, and the roads were already slippery with a couple of inches of snow on them. Visibility wasn't terrible, so that was a good thing anyway.
