Surviving Minnesota!

A few more cow calf pictures from our nice day yesterday..

A heifer we kept back last year.. She will be bred in June.. She has lost some weight... All the breeding heifers have been taken of feed so they are going through the “lose the fat put muscle on” phase... But they look pretty darn good and are over 900lbs..

Not the prettiest cow but raises some darn nice calves.

This girl is going to the salesbarn this fall. She can’t keep weight the way we like so she’ll either go on to the slaughterhouse or a cattle jockey will pick her up and give her a chance.

Another salesbarn candidate. Great cow with beautiful conformation but just do a good enough job. Doesn’t produce enough milk IMHO. She has always been our favorite and is the sweetest cow but sweet doesn’t pay the bills and if we have heifers that are our producing a young cow in her prime then she’s gotta go... She has a chance to prove us wrong this year but so far I’m not overly impressed with muscle growth and size of her calf...

This girl isn’t the chunkiest cow we have but she stays on the same shape year round and raise a monster bull calf every year. Doesn’t look like it but that calf of hers is already 175-200lbs and is only 3 weeks old. She produces a lot of milk.

Track meet for Monday was postponed... We are trying to get into a Class A meet on Tuesday now. However today I did get to actually high jump, coach doesn't like me actually jumping since it is in grass and we slip a lot, so we only did a 6 step approach. I did 5 scissors at 4'5" and than 5 jumps at 4'5". Did some hurdles too, I have my air time down a lot from last year. This year it is at .35 seconds.
Second Baldie calf born today, another heifer, if I am lucky and both mature nicely my dad said I can have both of them!

We have a lot of turkeys here this year.. The toms have been spending their days in the back pasture and hay fields...
