Surviving Minnesota!

I have never been able to get a North Star cherry tree to overwinter where I live. Rather than replace it with a Dwarf Juliet, I very strongly recommend that you get an Evans Bali for a replacement. They are also a natural dwarf tree and where I am they have survived winters that have killed elms, other cherry trees and apple trees.

I currently have 3 and they are all loaded with cherries.

That stupid northstar was 14 years old and only succumbed to a disease the trees by it are apricots and they are going strong. I'm in wabasha county. And is that Evan's Bali a sweet cherry? Just would like a change.

Some of the more special breed birds are $6 a chick at l & m. Started pullets from Murray mcmurray are $25 a piece. She’s a low-baller. A commercially raised broiler plucked and ready in the case is $11. A fine hen with her whole laying future ahead is worth more than that. I’d be insulted honestly by that $7. But I realize it’s not your livelihood etc. But please consider $1o to $15 your bottom line and efforts of 8 weeks.

That's kind of what I thought, though to be fair, I only paid $15 for my 20 week olds from Gilbert.

Some stripes on the Dominique. I should have tried to get the tail. But was in a hurry taking their pics outside I guess.

Just went on Murray McMurray since it’s been 6 years since I looked last. 15-22 week old pullets range from $24 for a common black Australorp to $27.45 for say a more exotic Colombian Wyandotte. Your PC’s are pretty nice line too.

Look over pencilling definition.
Bird size. Bigger is often better. Boxiness. Any color that’s not correct for feet etc I guess would be less desirable. Are you thinking shows...? Ed? Ralphie? Or an email to mike showing chicks and asking his opinion on what to keep. That might be a good way to go. He’d probably enjoy that...?

Nope. I just tossed out $7 at someone and she thought that was way too much. Think I'll have takers for the pullets. Still have the 3 cockerels. I think I might have a taker for one of them, but I'd let @duluthralphie have his pick of he wanted one.

Oh, and how do I choose which pullets to keep?
Post picture of each individual puller and we may be able to help...
