Surviving Minnesota!

I have a nearly 14 year old daughter and a nearly 12 year old son. When it comes to drama, my son can out do his sister any day. As far as girl drama goes....make sure they see how terrible they look, they may need to witness something at the mall etc. Then follow up with “will you remember tomorrow what your problem was today?” ***this line used with permission from my father/in-law he raised 2 drama queens, a daughter and my husband. (3 daughters and a son). He truly asked them what there problem was yesterday.

Thanks all. It wasn't the first rough day with her. I was just venting a bit.

She's incredibly smart and I like to think generally well-behaved. But there are some days.... we all had a few when we were kids and it sounds like those of us as parents have all had a few too.

Howdy folks. I was directed over here from Holm25 from the Minnesota page. I just got my first batch of chicks last Thursday. Lost 13 of 29, the remaining 16 are doing well.
I'm not sure what all I have (as I'm fairly certain I didn't get 100% of what I ordered) and the bulk of the order was "hatchery choice". The two I could ID, White Crested Polish didn't make it. The rest, well I guess I'll figure that out when they grow up!

I'm about 30 miles south of Bemidji.
welcome to the thread.

I was thinking you knew my wife...............

Nor will it be the last, but you know that. Go ahead and vent. And yes - we all have those days - not just the kids.

Chickies are doing well. It has been five days now, and man they are growing like weeds. I've split the remaining 17 into groups of nine and eight. The bigger ones in a bigger Sterilite tub, the smaller ones (bantams maybe?) in the other. Moved one bigger one with the smaller ones, and they really seem to like having a big sister/brother around. Couple of pics from this morning.

First picture is the smaller guys with the one bigger one. I like the anti social guy on the left. He must have gas :)

This is the bigger tub with the bigger sized ones. I ordered 3 white cochin hens, and I think I only got two (not sure, but I should have six white/cream chicks, ended up with five as one was DOA in the box when I got them).

They are starting to make wing assisted jumps in less than a week. I think I'll need to cover the tubs soon.

If you plan to keep them as one flock, I would try to find a place big enough for them all to be together. Otherwise, they will fight (more than normal) when you try to combine them again.

That said the fighting is not all that bad, I add birds all the time, and they seem to do ok. Just a few scrapes and scratches now and then.

I have some fights going on now, Cuddles son seems to think he should replace Cuddles.......Cuddles is not going to go down easy.

I'm nearing decision time on my roosters. Noticed the young one dancing in front of hens yesterday. DD said she saw some sparring today. Have not heard crowing yet, but he's starting to strut... mature rooster is molting, so he'll be easier to pluck if that's the route I go.

Good evening all! We are in homecoming week and my 11 th graders paraded out in formal dress on Monday and full camo today.

Vikings game : Ralphie insert your puker here. I’m the kiss of death I think. 60,000 people in a massive archetectural triumph. We took light rail in and out . Wow does that work slick ! I might cheer on the Viqueens Thursday. From my couch. Good vibe at the new stadium though. Quite an experience for a bumpkin.

Girls: Let her have some mascara. Not a big deal. Or a lip gloss. Just one thing. Have Mom show her how to use it lightly. (tell her too much is tacky--they actually listen to this...) Foundation and blush can wait as my brother-in-law called it war paint for his ex wife. Lol. Might be some truth to that!!! The hormones might be changing... If they didn’t fight you and test boundaries they’d live with you forever. So it begins...
My 16 year old 'pleasant' daughter took some shots tonight. What she doesn’t realize is she’s dealing with a master . Shots fired back and I saw her hide a smile. ... she’s just like me... Lord help us
