Surviving Minnesota!

Too bad my female Mandarin died this spring, or I could have supplied us all with beautiful babies! That is if they could keep any alive. They hatched some twice, but both times either drowned them, or the male killed them all? I have no clue. I'd know they should be hatching, come home, and they'd all be dead :he. Now I just have my drake. They are quite nuts, and never settle down. My ex and I built a pretty sweet pen for them so I haven't had to worry about them flying away at least. Good to see this thread with some life again, it was slim reading for a while there.

Did you hear about the Mandrian floating around the lake in Central Park NYC? Causing quite the stir. Major attraction. Park rangers are controlling the crowds. Photographers all over the place. They have no idea where it came from

Good morning sleepy heads!

Collecting a good amount of eggs both for hatching and eating. Working through the soft shell problem in one of my bantam buckeye pens. I have had free choice calcium available for 30 days or more, as well as she is in Kent layer feed. Has anyone supplemented vitamin D to help with absorption or do I need to be patient? She just started laying in early November
