Surviving Minnesota!

Happy Birthday BC! 49 is young. Just ask Ralphie. Wish I could go back to 49 and do things over for many reasons. Even though I would go back to work in the traditional sense.
But time flies when you are having fun so make the most of each day. As far as I know you only get to go around once !

So all you detractors... What’s the deal with ducks anyway? I have been reading a book in which the author lauds ducks to the celestial regions and feeling that maybe I ought to order some before they’re all sold out. No? I may have my hands full at this point anyway, but he made them sound so amazing... I have never owned or eaten one or even seen let alone tasted a duck egg. I am feeling like I’m missing out...
Ducks are wonderful. They lay insane amounts all summer long, even if they do fall a bit flat in winter. They have personalities like no other bird I've ever met, they're stinkin' adorable, and they basically just brighten up your whole day. Unfortunately, up here, they're more work than a human toddler all winter. I wouldn't get more than three, to be entirely honest. I ended up with seven and I wish I hadn't but I love them all too much to sell. Also, Call ducks are less messy by a bit.

Basically, they're a lot of work, but get them anyway. You'll thank me the first time you get to walk out to the coop and are greeted by a salvo of quacks from a bunch of the cutest things you've ever seen.

Oh my goodness, Banty! What a beautiful girl. :love
Thanks for the enabling... uh... encouragement. I was thinking Khaki Cambels or Harlequins and maybe some Rouens for meat. Or Muscovies, only I can’t seem to find them in anything but white (whine). I want pretty ones.
Welsh Harlequins are one of my favourite breeds. They are gorgeous, good layers, and easily tamed. This is Chrissy, my favourite duck ever. Unfortunately, she's no longer here. I treasure every second I got with her.
