Surviving Minnesota!

What layers said. ;)
They are soggy. Their poop is soggy.

Idk I’ve never had em. A neighbor had them and she said the poop was out of hand. :lau
Plus I think I just like having chickens. I love when I have a full flock of 10 (coop allowance) but 7 has been pretty darn nice!

That is why I will not raise duck in a pen . Too messy . When I lived near a creek I let them free range . Coons were bad enough but enough survived . Then the coyotes learned to wait until they were on land grazing and catching bugs . Then they would catch them .

Thanks guys! I don’t like the messiness, but I may try them all the same—maybe next year unless I can’t stand the temptation when I see the cute babies at the feed stores. I don’t really want to order the minimum from a hatchery even though it would be nice to have my choice of more varieties.

I’m going to have all my livestock (hopefully) parading all around the property all spring-fall. Cows first, then 4 days behind them, the poultry (hopefully again :fl) safely ensconced inside e-netting. Their job is to scratch around and eat maggots, etc. Not sure the heritage turkeys will cooperate, but maybe they will to some degree. Some folks have had luck with them. Anyway, the point being, the ducks wouldn’t be more than one day in the same paddock except in the most messiest of times... winter. And I don’t mind harvesting violent or extraneous drakes (or mean-girl ducks for that matter). :hmm

Thank you for birthday wishes. This is my last official birthday at 49.

I'm holding.
next year I will not be acknowledging any birthday wishes. Just an FYI. Not stuck up. Just full on denial of the aging process. Okey dokes?

:gigAhhh yah. Right.
Oh, come on....You can have a few more public birthdays!!!
