Surviving Minnesota!

Hey Ralphie how is Judy's hand . Did you see the Facebook vegan witches I sent ? HMM about that time of year . So if Judy gets out a big pot (cauldron) and starts cooking soup ( witches brew ) be careful . I see ingredients in your posts . Chaga , pumpkin , hair of Sasquatch , eye of potato , ear of corn and head of cabbage . :gig
I did not see it. Sorry.

I seldom go to FB. A secret ( and don’t tell anyone) I have people that run my FB..

Anyone want a LF Black Cochin Cockerel? I got him tested hoping I could show him but he's just not mature enough, and I need to get rid of some of the boys. He has great sheen and decent foot color, hatched in February or March I'd have to check again so he still has a while to fully mature

Gtaus. Any extension to a coop is a good one. Generally for runs they recommend here on byc 10 sq. Ft. Per bird. I framed up my base with 10 and 12 footers. The space is sure a welcome space for birds locked up for 6 months. The hardware cloth is the way to go. At least for the bottom.
My run has dealt with fox, bobcats, weasels. Had a sow bear after feed one spring also. Chicken wire did not fare well. 2x4s did not either for that matter. Lol.
My run door (human door) is 6 inches up. I have one chicken door on the ground and it is iced in after 3-4 inches of snow -not going to move until the first of May.

Speaking of the run. Got it cleaned out and a huge fluff of leaves, straw and cut green grass added before the rains.

Afternoon . Early start today up at 5 . Dropped grandson off at work then on to a 7 AM appointment to check leg circulation . No cause for alarm . Diabetic doctor wanted a check done . Got home and dropped off truck for repairs of the deer collision . Grandson and family moved out over the weekend . :celebrate It has been a year . Rainy and windy morning . Lots of leaves fell . :( Still no killing frost . Just light ones but garden is pretty much done . Just a few tomatoes . Grandson has his truck back running and insured . So they have own transportation .

Its raining a lot here today and windy but not overly so. Yesterday I put the plastic up on the chickens run, seems early but I couldn't see decent weather in sight so got it done while it was nice out, it's only 3/4 wrapped and then I cover part with plexi glass to keep the snow from blowing onto the water bucket, I couldn't find the plexi glass, DH probably moved it so I'll ask him about it when he's not so crabby (maybe never). Chckens didn't want to come out this afternoon, can't blame them.
