Surviving Minnesota!

Nicely said... I feel the same to all that went to the show when us slackers did not....

with the exception of the person who relapsed into dux ownership.... I worked for years to reform him.... now he is caught up in them again..

the pain is more than I can bear...

In this individuals defense he was just "throwing a bid out there to start the bidding" and well nobody bid against him. :duc:fl

Congratulations on all the show placing's. Hope all had a good time.

Ralphie, will likely be a lost cause unless you can get him enrolled into DWA (dux wacko's anonymous) ?!

Bogtown- That is beautiful. Your son did a great job!

I just want to shout out and say there were a few youth members with links or ties to this thread. Every last one of them participated and did very well in showmanship, some of them are humble and are not posting their results but as a participant of this thread let me be the first to say we are proud beyond words. (Yes I am even proud of the individuals that placed higher than my daughter on this thread. :celebrate:D!)

Congratulations MCM and Layers!

Uhhh I wanted to be there. Next year DD will be in Willmar— I think. So this show may come easier for me.

Holms are you the newest with some duckies?

Gutters cleaned. Halloween. Hauling water again from basement floor ducts. 270 gallons with a bit more to go.
Bathroom projects.

DS made this toilet topper in shop class out of Walnut. I got the pipe towel bar.

Did you know that the pipe fittings are stamped USA again? Last time I shopped it out they had China stamped all over them. True story.
Luv this! :thumbsup

I ended up with Best of breed on the silkies with a white pullet and Reserve of breed with a black hen. 5 exhibitors and 44 silkies in open class.....

On the standard cochins I got #1 old black hen out of 5. Surprised the heck out of me on that one..... the barred pullet I brought got #2 and reserve variety. She was so young.... only a May hatch.

My kid confiscated all the money I got as I was selling extras to go buy these messy little buggers. She got 2 grey males from another guy and 2 more males and 4 females from this guy (so 4 pair total)..... up to $45 a bird too... ughhhh kids. We also had to stop at that pumpkin patch over by Hector on the way twice for a total of $70 worth of pumpkins.... at least she had fun carving and I had a messy kitchen to clean up.

So I'm rearranging bird pens yesterday afternoon to start getting breeding pens going and I kept thinking to myself.... dang I still have alot of birds. Sold almost all the decent silkies I had along this weekend and the good ones that didn't sell can go in breeder pens. Extra cockerels in carrier to go out to brother's for fox food.

And then I look over and right in the middle of the day this little dude was happily munching on grain my horses left.....

Didn't get rid of a single cochin at Hutch... brought 8 pair to sell and 2 extra males. So many people had good ones though. Only lookers wanted only the hens.... so yeah feed bill didn't go down much yet. I also traded a good young pair of white silkies for an pair of standard australorps. Or as some of you guys call them... real chickens. :idunno
