Surviving Minnesota!

Layers the one deer is a 6 point here. That is considered a real good rack. Our white tails do not have the racks like your muleys get.

I saw a couple nice racks this weekend in Togo.

Speaking of Togo, all of us here in Minnesota knows Togo is ahead of the rest of the state. ...

so I took these pictures before I left there, so you can all see what your future looks like...

yep, the lake froze over last night... and that is real snow.

We get lots of really nice white tails here, especially along river and creek creek bottoms. A friend of mine shot a 172 2/8 whitetail last year, that was one big deer, and me and one other kid in my class both got 5x5 whitetails. I'd take whitetail over muley any day, the muleys smell awful in my opinion

We got 3 or 4 inches of snow overnight Tues into Wed, and now it was single digits this morning! I'm not ready. My corner of the state has some pretty nice deer. My cousin got a very nice 19 pointer maybe going on 10 years ago off my great gpas land. I'm pretty sure is was over 200 lbs dressed, one of those once in a lifetime deer. Houston county has even nicer deer then Winona county. I prefer venison to grocery store beef these days. Beef just has no flavor sometimes coming from the stores. Now a nice local, pasture raised one is a different story and actually has some flavor.

I buy my beef from my cousin. I am so spoiled. It’s amazing. Not a big fan of venison. I want to like it but I just don’t. Maybe it’s a process thing... in rut, not effectively bled, often has unavoidably sat too long without adequate cooling... :idunno You get about as much meat as you might from a big goat. Not sure it’s worth it and I can shoot them from the porch. I may put in for one or more next year for the doggies. I forgot this year. Poor doggies.

Ralphie, are my eyes seeing things or do you have dish at the cabin in Togo for the Sasquatch tenants ?!
If it is for you that is not roughing it.
We have a dish..

It is internet for our alarm system..

Ms Sasquatch would like dish tv, she is a fan of the raggy show “the View”..

However, she is so far behind on rent we refuse to allow tv up there..

We do have all the modern conveniences, microwave, convection oven and so forth... the only thing we are missing is running water and a bathroom...

This past week visits to the outhouse were brief. No one read the paper during their visits.

Went out today, only saw muley bucks, 2 smaller 4×4s, 2 bigger 4×4s, one really big forkie and then a possible 5×5. I'm finally off of crutches so we did a little walking it was a bit hard with it being so muddy and then trying to walk though a brush patch on a side hill. They are rutting hard so hopefully I can get one tomorrow
