The person I bought eggs from before my first chicks were laying did this. They said it worked incredibly and very comfortable in there. Eventually mom nature, time, pressure and vermin take their toll I’m sure.

...and they’re kinda fugly.

At R57, I can put up with fugly. If I ever build another house, it will be a straw house. Personally with all the various stucco style finishes available today, there is no reason for it to be fugly.

Well cob or stucco would certainly make all the difference.
I like the look of traditional wood coop that matches the big barn and paned glass windows for cocka doodle doo sunrises.

Errrrr. It could be old age sneaking in...

a good long nights sleep is a thing of the past for me. I miss them.

I was missing Sunny this morning. I thought an owl got her when she missed role call this morning. Well she got her slow self locked up in the car garage. And we got a step up to the house full of manure.
