Surviving Minnesota!

Morning . Had to look up buckthorn . Our leaves are mostly gone at Halloween here . So you are in the 20's this morning . Be a good time to check the mean hive of bees . Invasive honeysuckle are the last shrubs to loose leaves here and the first to break bud in the spring .

I think I should get them winterized soon.. however, because I am indifferent to their surviving, I am delaying.

We went from 80 degrees to 140mph winds to below freezing without a decent day to tear the hive down and get it ready for winter...

The year of the weird continues.

I think I am going to cut buckthorn today, it can become maple syrup fuel.

I think we are ready for winter now. Except, for the bees.

We are suppose to be 40 degrees on Thursday, but it could be snowing again. I will do my best to winterize then. I will just take the feeder off and put my insulated super on the top and wrap with tyvek.

And place an order for bees in the spring.

One would think my birds who are at least 2 years old would know what snow is.

They don’t. I had one rooster walking around and enjoying the snow. The rest were cowering in fear. Now granted it’s a little deeper than it should be this time of year. But it’s just snow.

How much did the rest of you get so far?

I think I have around 8 inches.
