Hello! New chicken owner. We have 4 Buff Orpingntons who are out in the coop / run full time, 3 RIRs (5 weeks) who are in a dog run within the bigger run and inside at night.

Everyone is acting normal but I noticed some questionable poops this morning. With the Buffs - One what I think is cecal but looks reddish brown - and one that is “normal” but has a bit of bright red blood. There is a similar one with the RIRs this morning too.

Should I treat with Corid? Give it a day? Something else?

We also have 6 Barred Rocks that are only a few weeks old. They don’t come in direct contact with the older birds but breathe the same air as the RIRs at night.

Thanks for any advice!!

Yea, I would get Corid and treat them. That looks pretty bloody. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water. It can be added to a small amount of food additionally.

Thank you! That was my hunch.

Should I worry about the Barred Rocks or just treat the “flock” that has direct contact?
