this has nothing to do with the swap meet but i was wondering about quail.
are they just good for eating or what?
will they fly away if they are not in a pen with a lid?
thanks.

Ok, here is what I found out so far. You don't have to have a permitt if you sell less than 1000 eggs or birds a year. That is per Geauga County. Each county has their own rules and regulations for selling. You have to go by your countys regulations when selling anywhere in Ohio. Your County Health department has to be contacted to see what their reulations and standards are. Then we go from there. So I would suggest everyone in a different county to find out their regulations and rules and we go from there where the most logical place would be. Also it was mentioned to check out any of your farm markets to see if they allow such stuff. So lets pitch in together and get a place to do this. Also mention if you have quail, or quail eggs to sell. Hatching or eating. That makes a difference too. I am waiting to hear back from the health department here. Because it might just fall under the agricultural part too. They said they have never had this brought up before. Leave it to me to be the first. I know the one lady that works there. She said to say thanks everyone for the extra work. See what ya all can find out and we can go from there. I will keep you updated on what I found out. I also have a few other calls out for the auction guys to see what info i can get from them. Kim

Ok i just found out about this place and have been reading up on it and it is the biggest show in the nation from what i have read.
We can still have one but i think this would be good to go to also.

I wish I still lived in Columbus! Amongst other reasons, so I could host a giant Ohio National party. I know they have sale pens there, but I would think that it would be mostly show and breeder birds. I think I would be uncomfortable having my birds next to them.

Also, do they allow the sale of other "stuff"? I have access to styrofoam boxes, all the bubble wrap you can handle, yogurt, ect...

I remember going to the Dixie drive- in for their flea- markets as a kid. I recall pets being sold there, maybe we can set up a big chicken section.....
