Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Are you sure this one is SFH?? I've never seen one start out with this coloring... and it seems to have barring as opposed to flowering. I sure could be wrong because I haven't seen everything yet, but this chick just strikes me as a little... off. Anyone else ever see one with this coloring?
the autosomal barring visible on the darker portion of the wings is common for many color varieties as chicks but fades as they get adult feathers. i would wonder, however, about the overall gold coloration myself. I don't see any mottling like the SFH tend to display at that age, either, and would tend to think it's a mix as well...

Bulldogma, #1. looks like one I got a while back. The seller still won't admit that it's not a pure SFH...

It may have had some SFH in it, but it's not pure. She's a character though and now enjoys a great life in my friends first ever flock.

The one on the bottom could still be an SFH. This is a Land Race Breed and has a lot of unknown Genetics in it. You can get sports in many corsses. White Cream Legbars and EO Marraduana Basque. Black Australorps with feathered feet....Don't use this one for a breeding project, but there is no proof that the breeder snuck in a ringer.

Here is our youngest ones my wife and I have decided to sale 4. the three pullets here but she is in love with the roo, so she is going to sub an older one instead.

we love them all but we have about 150 chickens right now counting 25 meaties, So this weekend I get to build three more chicken condos and a chicken tractor. Ahh but the chickens are so much fun.

Hi Knock Kneed Hen! Maybe this hen isn't a pure Swede, but she certainly is beautiful! Love that deep red color! Although, a couple/three months back I was trying to decide which roos to keep from my last Greenfire batch. I had a roo I wanted to keep that was black with red spots about the same color as the above- hardly any white on him. I wanted to keep him but I asked Jenny and she said too dark, progeny may lose the speckling we all like. Ended up keeping a ginger guy with fabulous mille fleur pattern on his chest and belly (Miguel), and my white and red guy, Gabriel. Actually, the red spots on Gabe are deep red like your hen above. Perhaps this is a pure Swede you have. Anyway, who cares because she is one gorgeous chicken!

I love that those new eggs are different colors! Another neat thing about the Swedish. And those birds just above, beautiful. Lucky, you have crested!
