Swedish Flower Hen Thread

One of my SFH pullets is injured. Instead of repeating myself, you can see what's going on HERE. Keep your fingers crossed that she heals up OK.

Ok, here are my babies, growing up big enough to tell the sex? I thought I had the sex right at hatch time, but I think I had it backwards. I hope I have at least one girl!
One is 8 weeks, and one is 6 weeks. I think the orange one being the oldest. The first two
are of my orange..girl?

I really thought this was a girl at hatch..not sure now. :/

I took a lot of pictures of the blue to give you some different angles..so what do you think?

Hi I got a better photo of my supposed SFH chick with a weird comb (maybe pea comb because it looks like three rows of comb). Does anyone have SFH with pea comb?

He also doesn't have any tail feathers like the rest of the SFH

Beautiful birds! :thumbsup I would say the blue is definitely a boy, but not real sure about the mille fleur. Keep a close eye on those wattles. If it is a hen, the wattles should be barely noticeable until she gets close to POL.

He looks like a mix to me. :( All of the SFH I have raised have had a large amount of white on them as juveniles, regardless of final color. With the funky comb and lack of tail make me suspect an Araucana mix. Too bad it's a boy, because it may carry the blue egg gene.

Thanks KYT, I was thinking boy on that blue. :( So pretty, will make a gorgeous roo. I can't have roos.

On the Mille F..the wattles are hardly noticeable..hope they stay that way! Thank you for the compliment! I love them. :)

The one on the bottom could still be an SFH. This is a Land Race Breed and has a lot of unknown Genetics in it. You can get sports in many corsses. White Cream Legbars and EO Marraduana Basque. Black Australorps with feathered feet....Don't use this one for a breeding project, but there is no proof that the breeder snuck in a ringer.
Thanks, but I never accused the breeder of sneaking anything in. I simply felt that 3 out of the 3 birds I got from him weren't true considering he admitted that one isn't now that he's seen it full grown and that another lays a white egg. This one is the only one that maybe could be pure, but I wouldn't use it because I don't like the odds. Thanks for the information.

She sure is lovely, though. I do like that color - so beautiful with the crest. I understand about not breeding her, though.

Let me know if you need/want eggs because all I have are Swedes directly from Greenfire. Well, I do have one Ameraucana roo but he has always been in a separate pen with his two Ameraucana hens - I never, ever let them range with the rest, and the rest are all Swedes.
