your 2 red/white girls are probably red/splash/white... which, when bred to a black, you'll get 100% blues.I love SFH, you never can tell what you are going to get......
go figure where the gray /blue came in but I like it![]()
ok genetics dummy here, but they were bred to a mille and doesn't mahogany mask black, or is that what your saying is that the masked black from the mille pattern is what is throwing the blue if the girls are indeed a splashyour 2 red/white girls are probably red/splash/white... which, when bred to a black, you'll get 100% blues.
Very pretty SFH! At 4 weeks old with a crest that big, and the start of wattles already, along with the upright stance, I'd say most definitely a roo. So sorry.
She may be a pullet, but she is not a Swedish Flower Hen. SFHs have straight combs. Looks like she has a pea comb and green legs - probably an Easter egger.![]()
It is possible that I am not getting a good view of the comb, so could be a small single comb. Time will tell. Here is an article that may help: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/the-8-comb-typesFlo actually has yellow legs, though they are not bright yellow by any stretch but the comb, you guys are the experts (I'm not even sure what a straight come is! Same as a regular comb?). The local shop I got them from stands by the breed as SFH but I have wondered even before posting this after curiously looking at photos of the breed. I keep looking at pics of SFH and they are all mottled and Flo seems anything but. She's a wonderful young lady though so we're happy to have her!
Still, next time I get chickens I'd really like a SFH, what wonderful birds!
Well, I'm glad you solved the mystery, but Ameraucana do not have yellow legs.Tracked down the breeder, she's a blue Ameraucana and was mislabeled at the shop. Thanks, and looking forward to a SFH in my future!
