Hey everyone my birds that are the same age as Leahs Mom are laying good 4 out of 6 not bad!! Incubator is fired up a going!

Hey, JB! I just got ONE today too...she laid on the floor in the corner but at least it was inside. About 1/4 the size of the other eggs and didn't even tip the scale...was below pee wee size

I can't wait to crack it open and see if it is complete...and fertilized. I guess I'm going to have to stake out and see who is laying..but I think I know which one it was. Just didn't catch her in the act.

Report from home. One chick hatched! Yeah!

Another report from home... 2nd SFH has hatched... Another working on it. Looks like we'll get at least a few. Anxious to get home in a few hrs and see what's happening. Yeah!

Congrats.....your experience makes me believe I may still get some hatched SFH in the next 36 hours.

I have 12 SFH eggs under a broody that are due to hatch on Thursday. First time with this breed, any advice?????

10pm count. 3 hatched. Another on the way... Yeah! Time for bed... Hoping tomorrow will bring many more fluffs in the bator.

I have some SFH cockrels I will need to find homes for. I also have 2 Birchen Marans cockrels all from greenfire farms. I am in S. CAL if anyone is interested.. I live in a residential are and cnt keep the roosters.

my broody mommas' that were co-parenting have adopted the 3 chicks that hatched in the incubator. Unfortunately there was 1 egg left in the nest that was trying to hatch and the momma's abandoned it. That one didn't make it. But the girls are being very good parents to the one's that had hatched. I am pleased with that. I have about 20 more eggs in the bator. I know 4 of them are pure SFH. I can't wait to see if they hatch!! I have 8 eggs in lockdown that are 1/2 SFH. I won't breed my 1/2 breeds, but since a stray dog took out 1/2 of my flock i will definitely raise them and use them as layers! I went from getting 8 eggs a day to getting 1. We eat more than that. dang it!

The 4th is hatched, but still wet and exhausted (this hatching stuff is HARD work!), and #5 and 6 are on the way.
