Swedish Flower Hen Thread

So mad right now! I took pics of my babies today and can't get them from my phone to the comp. I have 6 SFH :) She wasn't sure on age so they range from 5-7 weeks. I am a bummed though because I think my ratio is 3 & 3. I love them. They didn't like to be held a week ago when I got them but oh how that has changed. What age will I know for sure on gender? What do I look for? These are my first chickens. One of them has some really weird white feathers is that bad?

The feathers I was talking about...above 2 pics
Bragging below:)

Umm some were being sneeky

No I am not taking a pic so all of you just walk off...

Oh they love their Pedia Pop, Mint and Basil! It was so darn hot out.

Hanging out!

Some of the colors showing...

Can't get enough...

My wild one no doubt!!! Beautiful and so funny though.

Hanging out at the treat bowl:)

They are cute! No worries about the awkward white feathers. They change so much from week to week. Keep an eye on combs and stance. The girls will be still pale and sightly pink and while the the boys go red. Boys will stand a little more erect and get larger than the girls. You have some good looking little birds!

SFH are SUPPOSED to have a mixture of white and colored feathers. sometimes whole feathers will be white, other times just the tips. if they DON'T have any white, then likely they're not SFH. but looks like you've got a good assortment there from what I can tell.

as for sexing, look for wattle development - growing larger and turning red. sometimes the combs are a bit slower but will be larger than pullets and turn red sooner too. pullets only get comb and wattles (larger and red) when they're getting ready to lay.

Nice to see you back again! Pretty babies, my guess would be this bottom pic is a pullet- the one above it a cockerel
