Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Thank you again. I was hoping there was a chance these were girls. I appreciate your explanation about how the pullets get redder after 4 months. Sorry for being a dweeb. I wasn't understanding why some of the flower hens looked as though they could be girls as I was looking at older ones. Anyone want 7 Swedish Flower Hen roosters. Also thanks for the waddle versus wattle. I am going to go bury my head in my pillow and cry.
I would love to have them I had 3 inches of rain last night lost 2 pulletss if your close to missouri I would make adrive otherwise I would pay for shipping send me a pm please

Beautiful, Leigh.

Do you separate the momma & chicks into a different area when they go outside... are they away from the other adult chickens or do you turn them all out together?

I know those electronets and other fences have openings that are large enough for the chicks to go through. Just wondering how that's going?

When my last broody hatched eggs, it was so cold out that they didn't go very far away from the door. This time (assuming I get a hatch) I'm thinking it might be hard for her to keep those kids inside the fence!

This is my new baby. Is she really a she? It is 5 months old.

Looks like a boy to me, and it doesn't look to be 5 months old, either, maybe 3? My reasoning? Well, it appears he has saddle feathers coming in, though the angle of the pics are not the best for determining that, and the crest has spiky feathers. Pullet crest feathers look more rounded.

I'm excited to be setting some of Tarheelbirdy's eggs under my broody in the next couple of days. Hoping for some of those black, beautiful birds! Pullets, please :D

I'll also put a couple of little orange's eggs in too (Now called "Miss Sweden"). These photos are the former little orange:

I do not separate the mom and chicks from the flock. They are in the same coop and all. Sometimes there are little scuffles, but nothing too bad.

I keep my net off (can't afford the box yet to electrify it) but the birds stay in all the same. Chicks can fit through the net and they do go out from time to time, but they never go far.

I have 2x4 wire around mine. The chicks go out but always stay close. I let them with the rest. Momma watches over them.
