Opinions on this little pullet? Splash?

I'll have to try for more. She was not being a good model. And one of my EE was looking at her like a dinosaur on the hunt lol

She is a pretty red/white pullet. She is splash-based and is getting closer to POL. Her face is starting to redden up nicely. It should not be too much longer and the wattles and comb will start taking off.

6 have hatched, 1 is zipping, 1 more has pipped. 7 eggs nothing yet.

Question.....today is day 21, how long should I wait on the remaining eggs?
I would continue to pay attention but give them a couple more days. By paying attention you will be able to discern whether to intervene or not. Hopefiully not, but I have saved a number of chicks who were not going to be able to get out. I have also lost a number of chicks by not intervening sooner.

BTW, Congratulations on your hatch so far!!!!

Hooray! As Hapless said, at least a couple more days - and keep a close eye. Beautiful chicken babies so far!!

And if you get an Alma egg or two to hatch, look for those to be some BIG chicks! Even her pullets are enormous (especially with Mace as the daddy)!

I am putting another 12 shipped SFH eggs on lock down tonight and have a question or two. I was thinking of setting these upright because of space issues. Can I just unplug the auto turners? Also what % humidity is do you all recommend for for lock down? I have used dry incubation through out.

I use the paper egg crates. I worry about the turners as I've had chicks get stuck in them (and legs between the rails).

as for humidity I do anything between 55 and 65. it'll climb as chicks start hatching and drying.

I actually had one hatch on day 24! figured he'd be a gonner, but he's one of the biggest boys I have right now, tho he's also the youngest of the free range boys. (he's a birta/mace baby)

I've had a few here and there that pip on 20/21 and hatch the next, but 22-23 days before pip is rare that it has good outcomes IMO.

So, yesterday was Day 19 for me and per several comments I've read on here, I waited until yesterday to put them on lockdown. (Though I have a Reptipro incubator, so "lockdown" is a relative term for me since my bator doesn't have vents and still has to be periodically opened for air exchange.) Anyways, I took a quick peek at a few of them to check air cells, etc. and found that several had already internally pipped. Because of this, I didn't look at all 33 because I was afraid I'd mess up any others that had already internally pipped. About how quickly after internal pips are you guys seeing external pips? A day?

Today's Day 20 and I'll be home late. DH is on watch duty! (Though I'm still thinking tomorrow will be the big day.)
