Lafayette's comb is bigger than the other 3 chick's combs, that's why I was betting he would be my cockerel.

I guess time will tell for sure!

Yes, it is still entirely possible. I had some that I was sure at 8 weeks were pullets that turned out to be cockerels.
I'll have to get some new pics as this is a few weeks old, but how 'bout this guy? Sorry, not for sale!

They hatched on New Year's Day, so they're almost 6 weeks old.

I was really crossing my fingers for a cockerel like this-

Anyone have an extra guy like that?

He's not extra but one of mine looks like that. A second looks like that but has a crest. They are now 6 months old. I need to get new pictures. This picture is from late December when they were 4 1/2 months. The one with his head down is the crested one.

Yup, that's exactly what I want! You plan on selling eggs sired by him?

You have 2? And 1 is crested!? Oh, I'm green with envy right now!

I would love to see updated pictures of them, especially the crested boy.

Lafayette can be sexed right now not by comb but by feather characteristics. Look at the feathers right between his wings, on his back, and ask yourself - Are any of them toothy, glossy, more red than normal, or more triangular than normal? Same goes for the wing bow.

I'm so tempted to run out to the garage with a flashlight and check.

It's cold outside though, I'll look tomorrow.

Yes, in a few months. He and the pullets are only 4 months old, so it wil be a little while before they start laying. When they do, I'll let you know and see if you are still interested.

What do your pullets look like now?

I really can't wait until my babies are grown, I am so anxious to see how they will look eventually.
