Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I got SFH hatching eggs from Richard at Jordan Farms. 14 of 15 eggs are developing, and due to hatch on Monday! Richard was great to do business with. His web site is www.jordan-farm.com

Do I understand his prices right? That it's $5.50 per hatching egg? That his Cream Legbar chicks are $69 each? That his SFH chicks are $13 each?

I have 6 that were hatched the 2nd week in Sept. & 7 that hatched 2nd week in Nov.

In that case, if the one sitting in the first pic is one of your Sept chicks, then I change my opinion to pullet and since it's the waddles that I see (I think), she's probably getting close to laying!?! These crested one's can be soooo sneaky sometimes!

This is Lafayette... he is a he, right? Looks like a pullet to me - no red in the comb. Is he/she showing any wattles yet?

Sookie and Pam, my Splash twins. Very nice!

You think Lafayette is a girl too? I thought because of his color he was a definite boy... you're right, his comb isn't red at all though.

That would leave me with no cockerels then.

I just sold a cockerel and a pullet, both who had crooked toes, to a woman who only planned on keeping them as pets. I told her the dangers of potentially breeding the pair and hatching inbred chicks, she plans on using the rooster as the head of a layer flock and the pullet just to keep as a pretty layer.

Well, if Lafayette is a boy then I guess I won't be breeding Flowers.

Don't give up yet. Those crested ones can be sneeky. How old are they?

I have some beautiful crested boys...you just come and get 'em! Don't you want to make a trip to San Diego?

They hatched on New Year's Day, so they're almost 6 weeks old.

I was really crossing my fingers for a cockerel like this-

Anyone have an extra guy like that?
