Swedish Flower Hen Thread

One of my pullets broke her leg. I have her in a splint, in a small cage in the coop. I don't know how it happened. I suspect the donkey stepped on her. Always seems to be something around here.

So sorry to hear about your pullet! I hope she heals well.

poor little pullet! hope she heals up just fine.

and here is Max, who arrived at my little place late this afternoon:

he's got a flock of 12 girls who've never had a male around, so they are alternately angry (who does this guy think he is?!) or in love (so handsome)... introduced them all just before sundown, so now they can all sleep & sort things out in the morning...

so excited to have such a gorgeous boy!

Here's my lonely SFH that hatched. I'm scrambling right now trying to find someone w/in driving distance to get a few "hatch-mates" to add to the nest under mom so this little one isn't all by itself. Hopefully some doors will open up here soon.

Mom is breaking up some food for baby here.

careful about adding new chicks. some hens will accept new babies after a day or so, but in my experience, few will. most will reject new babies and sometimes even their own after their own is already a day old or more.

Where in Seattle are you? I am in Fremont and I have 2 two week old SFH, they are adorable. I was thinking about ordering another dozen since I like this breed so much.

Seattleleah we are in snohomish. We are planning to do a hatch in mud march after the bug show in monroe so if you end up having chicks around April I would love to buy some!!! Ill check out that breeder link too. Thank you!

I am a fan of the Blommehons page on facebook and they posted this yesterday......I think they are so beautiful! put up some pics of your flocks!

Congratulations on the little one! Very cute. I am in Northern Kentucky and will have some SFH hatching tonight or tomorrow, along with some splash orpingtons.
