Kansas City. PM me and I can pass along contact info if interested.Where are you located?
Thank you I have been wondering I knew I asked once already but i couldnt find it so i wrote it down this time thanks!crested to crested yes, you'll get crested but might also get vaulted skulls (not good, potentially fatal prior to hatch) larger crests sometimes.
non-crested, you get more of the same.
crested to smooth you'll get a mixture. this is my preference since i like the varieties.

i don't do ANYTHING... i put them in the incubator, candle once or twice along the way (7 and 14 days usually). candle again before i put them in the hatcher and open when they start talking to me.OK, so KYTinpusher and I did another experiment. She shipped eggs to another BYCer who has big fancy bators and hatches LOTS of chicks who lives about 15 miles from me. The eggs came to the same post office, thus handled by the same people (our local PO is awesome), but our mutual friend picked them up and hatched them. Well, tried. She only got one chick to hatch. She hatches shipped eggs all.the.time, except for Polish; she can't get them to hatch.
So it's not me, I think. I think something happens coming here specifically to this area that ruins SFH eggs. They made it to lockdown and died. Just like what happened to my attempts.
So, those of you who hatch shipped SFH eggs successfully, what exactly are you doing? Maybe a tweak will help. Seeing some of these lovely birds here makes me want to try again.
