Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Its not the greatest picture but there she is!

I have an ignorant question (meaning "uneducated").

I don't think I've ever seen a blue that did not have a crest. Do all blues have crests?
I have a blue with out a crest! Here is a pic of her....she is my FAVORITE most courious one I have, always wondering what I am doing in the pen!

I love your flock, especially the mottled hens. I have chickens from 6 or 7 different sellers but unfortunately too many roo's. My roo,s are quite different from yours, many with no red and big top hats. I need hens. If you can think of any kind of a deal we could work out I would be very pleased ( you too ). We don't live too far away from each other so shipping should not be difficult. Waiting to hear from you. Paul

Hey who are you trying to send a message to? Where are you located?

Ok Thank you!! I have alot of white SFH in my flock I hope some of the white coloring goes away! I have one like yours with the crest at the bottom of your pictures!!
In my experience, if the young pullets are white with blue flecks they will stay basically white (splash). If they are white with red feathers on their wings, back, or head/neck they will get a lot more red as they mature. Here are some photos to show you what I mean. These two girls by the water jug are about 7 weeks.

Here they are at about 23 weeks.

I was initially very disappointed by all of the white but I am really happy with the end result even though most of my pullets are very similar. Hopefully the dark roos will help with that this season. I did sell 8 pullets that were blue splash or very lightly splashed with red.

Thats neat how they change....you are going to sell eggs this year right? I want to get some I really like the red speck pullets I dont have any but that is one of my favorite colors in this breed! Thank you for posting! I have a red/white rooster crested and wish I had the pullets that look like that!
