Except that some people absolutely have no issues hatching eggs from some sellers while other people can't hatch them at all from thiose same sellers. For example, I have tried a few times to hatch KYTinpusher's eggs. They just don't do well for me, even when we sent them to madamwlf, who has a different setup than I do, lives probably 10 miles from me, and successfully hatches all the time. Yet a good number of people have successfully hatched eggs from her flock. So I'm not sure nutrition would explain, but I am sure it makes a difference in general.

Frustrating yet interesting to contemplate. I'm considering how next to go about doing some more testing, but it might all wait until I can use my own SFH flock as controls. Hubby will flip his lid if I hatch any more black mixed breeds :lol

i think it depends, like others have mentioned, which hubs your packages go thru. every time i've had eggs and chicks go thru st louis mo, i get smashed/scrambled eggs and dead chicks. (and 2 days extra on the shipping time vs what tracking says). any other route, they do just fine.

i've heard of individual po's having people who hate chickens or are just plain vindictive and will shake/toss/drop boxes marked fragile or eggs, just for fun. my own PO is pretty good. usually. tho we've got some new people who need to be trained to read labels better. last eggs sat there for 2 days before someone thought to look and see where it was marked VERY PLAINLY call for pickup. we got a note in the mailbox the second day saying we had a package waiting. po closes at 4:30, hubby picks up the mail on the way home around 7. glad it wasn't live chicks.

YAY! dahlisgrams eggs are hatching! all over the place! no idea why, but this was a wet hatch for them it looks like. my cochins and blrw did just fine, the a number of the sfh are all gooey and sticky when they get out. 4 pipped but apparently didn't pip enough to breathe and quit, 4 more i caught pipped but stuck. 3 more i've already helped out and they're with a momma now. the 4 that were caught in time, i enlarged the hole and gave them to a broody momma who likes to sit in semi soggy shavings when she hatches eggs... also figure, if they start getting panicked/stressed, she can help peel the shell. i've seen hens do it before... can't hurt. she has stunk this time around being given already hatched chicks, so maybe she can earn her keep by helping these 4. the 3rd broody momma got fired. she decided to set herself on top of the water dish and drowned 2 blrw chicks.

I'd be interested in swapping, sure. Just let me know if you're going to be in this area, or would like to swap-by-mail? I am NPIP certified.

I use Bulldogma's method and have gotten good feedback from my buyers.
well heres another feedback for ya tarheelbirdy! I have gotten 12 eggs in the mail today very well packed and there is no cracks just 1 ruptured air cell and its not even that bad....a lady from TX sent me 4 eggs and those were horrible 2 cracked and 2 extreamly ruptured air cells, NONE hatched I have high hopes for these eggs, because she has said she hatches about 90% blacks! I can only hope that I get a black pullet!
