Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Well, hopefully we find out soon why the rooster keeled over. I suggested testing for MG and AI. They didn't look too, too busy at the lab, so maybe he got necropsied today instead of stored to Monday. Kinda wish I could have done it, but I don't have access here at the farm to testing, and I can have it all done through the state for free; if I submitted samples at work, it would cost big bucks even with a professional discount (and still likely end up at a state lab somewhere).

Nobody else looks sick. They were all hanging out wondering why the feeder was empty because we were late returning from a play date. I kinda suspect the dogs have been raiding the chicken feeder...but I see chickens in the dog dish a lot! LOL
They don't test for MG at the Frederick Lab. It has to be sent to the Salisbury lab for that. So sorry to hear about your rooster. Hopefully it isn't anything serious.

I just recently joined the SFH world and am super excited! I got my trio from Just Fowlin Around in Brewster, WA.. I can not wait till they start laying and to breed them, I have many friends who can not wait till then either! Before we know it, Washington State will be covered in SFH :) Super sweet birds indeed!!!

Brandy Ann crossed the "rainbow Bridge" this evening. I wrote about it which helped a little...
but not much...

I am so sorry, what a lovely girl!

Johanna (the former broody) & her chick are doing great- her other 3 chicks (that she abandoned the eggs which I then hatched in the bator) are also doing well as is the 1 that hatched the week before. So all together I have 5 new SFH babies.
