Swedish Flower Hen Thread

That is wonderful news! I have good news too, I place my crooked toe SFH and mean SFH in a new home today... and they aren't going to be eaten! Kinda sad to see them gone but in the same sense a little relieved and peace has returned to my little chicken world! I sure hope I get a few good men out of the babies that are growing out.

All the chicks are going strong... I suspect they may winter in the house.

And their colors are changing everyday..... they are gorgeous!
I was offered replacements for my lost & crooked toe chicks. Have I told you all what great sellers the Duemigs are.

p.s I did decline, I should have another dozen chicks hatching on the 19th.

Duemigs does sound like a wonderful seller! Just to clarify, the only reason I brought up the crooked toes was to see if it is a problem SFH owners are going to have to watch for. I am fairly new to chickens and can use all the support I can get from others.

Thank you for the compliment. We just hatched some more SFH's last night and a few should be hatching out today. I will be checking for the crooked toe thing but from what i can see so far none of the SFH's that hatched last night have it. I am curious as to why the crooked toe.

Have the crooked toes developed when they are chicks or later on as they grow? All my SFH have no crooked toes but they so have long toes maybe that makes them more prone to getting them but that is just a guess.

I could not agree more.
My "dozen" (purchased on Ebay) came a week ago, actually 16 came and 12 are developing (the ones the post office did not rupture the air cells on). Amazing for shipped eggs. Thank you Michele - you are the best!!!!

Thank you.

You guys make me want to fire up the incubator again. I have to resist until about March (that's ONLY 4 months). It's just to cold and wet here for the next few months for little babies.

I really need to move.
