I need to get some updated pictures of my bunch that hatched on New Year's Day. They're all growing like weeds and are very pretty. I have 1 cockerel and 4 pullets, 2 with crests (including my cockerel Lafayette) and 3 that don't have crests. They're so full of personality!

Well the one in the incubator didn't make it so I'm back down to the three.
I will try with more eggs after the Easter hatch. Or maybe I should just try to find chicks?

How well do SFH's lay. What size and what color?

I got my first egg today from my 21-week olds!

I believe it is SFH! It is small, but ooohhh sooooooo cute! It is the one on the right (the other is one of my huge BR eggs.)

That is a cute little egg . I read on the Greenfire Farms website that the pullet eggs are small... but just give them a few months and you will be getting Extra Large eggs from them. Mine are still just wee little chicks... so I still have quite awhile before I will see any eggs.
So, for now, I am just enjoying watching them grow out and get some fun colorful feathering - they are pretty entertaining. Today they started getting little feathers on their heads and it is looking like 3 of the 12 chicks that I got from Wimberleytexaschick have crests - pretty awesome!!!

Does anyone have a mature hen that looks like Jessica??? I have no idea what she is going to look like all grown up.

Lafayette, my only cockerel, Pam and Sookie, they're almost identical, Pam has a darker head though.

They like to play King of the Mountain.

Great pics Jeremy - I love that you can see Sookie's eyelashes in the pic. For whatever reason I find those little chicken eyelashes just adorable. What camera do you use, BTW?

Btw I finally got some wheaten ameraucana eggs from the offspring of your girls. LOVE the egg color.
Do you still have a wheatie roo, and are you going to be able to keep the SFH roo?

I love little Sookie and Pam, at first I was a bit disappointed because they aren't as colorful as the rest but what they lack in hue they make up in personality! They are quirky little buggers.

I use a Canon something, I'll have to look at the camera to see what it is for sure. I bought it on sale at Target a few years ago and it has worked like a charm ever since.

How are your Swedish babies Allison?

I love Arlene too Miriam, I just wish she didn't have little crooked toes.

We tried splinting them when she was a baby but we didn't have any luck straightening them out.

I'd love to see pictures of the Wheaties and their eggs! I still have about a dozen hens from my Wheaten flock but I sold my Blue Wheaten boy Claude when we got the noise complaint last year. I don't have another Ameraucana roo and I don't think I'll be breeding them this year. I plan to hold on to the girls that fit the SOP the best and that lay the most vibrant eggs but I'll sell of some of the others. I may pick up breeding the birds again in a few years, right now I'm concentrating on my English Orpingtons and a small Sumatra side project.

I am actually selling Lafayette and Arlene right now they're both local pick up only. If I don't get any interest I'll probably resort to shipping.
