Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Sorry these pictures aren't very good, but she doesn't even look like a swedish flowers pattern either. I'm thinking she is probably a mix
I agree with you that she must be something else. I've got 26 swedish flower hens and even though they are all different, each one looks likes a swedish flower hen. This chickens' feather pattern does not fit the mille fleur, speckled, mottled, or splash patterns that I've seen.

Every single one of mine has some degree of white on it. Below is a bunch of 5 and 6 week old chicks. The solid black one in the middle is an Isbar.

Just based on the color of it's legs alone I'd say it's either a mix or not one at all. Do you know what other birds the seller was raising?

Thanks. Is the dark one a Swede or Icelandic, anyone? I have two that look like that, two MF and one whitish with a few splashes of tan i put in my earlier post. They sure are the friendliest things!!

I have a dark pullet but she doesn't look like this one. Sorry, not much help since I only have a few. You could post on Icelandic thread and see if it looks familiar.

I hope this is a better picture. I have two that look exactly alike. The tail has that red and also blue coming through, and the legs are yellow on both of them. I also got the one in my avatar picture from that same batch of eggs and it actually looks like a Swedish flower.

My opinion is that it's not a pure SFH. I have looked at all blogs, galleries, posts of SFH's and have not found any resembling this bird. I myself had a cockerel that had very little flowering & poor body type but it was still evident to me that he was a SFH. I'm going to have the opportunity to see him again this week and I'll take pictures. Did you buy the eggs online so you weren't able to see the stock? Have you at least seen pictures of the parent stock? If not, I'd ask the seller to email you some pictures purely for your curiosity.

The bird in your avatar certainly does look like a SFH, but perhaps a rooster got to the hen without the seller even being aware..it happens. Don't discount it on my word alone. Would like to hear what others think.

ETA: Here's a link to a blog with a lot of pictures. This is in Sweden, someone working to preserve the SFH's.
