Swedish Flower Hen Thread

We have pipping....just not the SFH eggs. One local egg hatched. A second has pipped. Experience with these local eggs tells me this is typical. I should have a run of hatching the next 24-48 hours and then we are done.

I am so anxious for these 2 SFH eggs.

The one chick that is out...black. For real. I think they are Australorpe crosses.

Beautiful birds!!

All the talk on the shipped eggs is very interesting.. so many different factors, we could do studies for a couple years and still not figure it out, but at least have a trend... interesting..

Again... can't wait for my eggs in the spring!!

Le sigh. No SFH have hatched. The locals did fine.

So.....in the spring, I'll think about ordering chicks. Or pick up eggs from one of you lovely people ;) within driving distance.

What a BUMMER.

Meanwhile, the one SFH I thought was a pullet crowed at me the other morning. LOL So I have three SFH roos. They are quite lovely teenagers. I can't wait to see what they look like as adults. I might not be able to choose which one to keep! I need to get new photos.

If I get my NPIP by spring, I'll be happy to hatch some for you and send them. I'll probably be setting some for the NYD Hatch-a-long (don't tell DH

So sorry the SFH didn't make it.

OH, No! What a bummer on the SFH hatch!

It's looking like out of all my 11 SFH juveniles I've got at least 7 roos! Dang! I know I have at least 2 girls, the other 2 are still up for debate. Anyone need a Roo?!?

yay, I had a funny hatch the other day for brahmas where I literally got 7 roos and 1 pullet! Thankfully the SFHs have been hatching quite well for me with much better ratios!!. I am loving the coloring on some of the chicks. I need to take some pictures. Maybe tomorrow!

I think I will need a roo. I got my first 6 SFH eggs from a swap, 3 hatched and I think they are all hens. I'm not real good at feather sexing, so I might be wrong. If I do need one would you be willing to send it? I cant drive to OK.
