Sweet little EE- Pullet?

Iridescence in tail, pointy saddle feathers starting to come in, patchy red on shoulders = EE cockerel. He's gorgeous! Love the puffy black cheeks and beard. He's going to be knockout when he's fully grown.

I agree completely that this is a cockerel, and for all the reasons you list, except one. The iridescence of the black feathers doesn't mean anything. Male or female, no matter the species, black or dark feathering will sheen like that. All of my female birds that have black, or are black, sheen green and sometimes purple.

Thanks everybody! Everyone here is so nice :) (and smart!)
So a boy, it is.... That's OK. I still love him! I just hope he stays sweet :fl LOL!
My best "pet" chickens have all been roos! My current favorite, Yukon, will have to go because he's an Old English Game Bantam and I have no OEGB hens, is so tame that he'll fly into my hand, hop to my shoulder and ride all around the yard. He comes when called, "talks" to me across the fence and walks on a leash. If I could move him inside, I would keep him ... but that's Herman's domain, and TWO house roosters are a bit much, even in MY crazy household!

Your rooster walks on a leash!! And you (already) have a House Rooster!
Your house sounds like a blast! lol

I'll have to get a good pic of Yukon on his leash. I'd do Herman, but he's outgrown his. I need to get him a new one, so he can visit classrooms again, this year. I do have a pic of Flutterbug, but you really can't tell he's wearing a leash, because he's standing on the counter at our vet's office. We were there to pick up dog-meds and Bugs went along just to check things out. He was a huge hit!

As far as the residents at my house go, there's a story there. Long ago, my Dad dubbed my home, "The Halfway House," because, according to him, no matter how many legs a critter has (or doesn't) and whether it wears fins, fur, feathers or fuzzy slippers, we're halfway between wherever it's coming from and wherever it's headed ... and it stops for a while. Sometimes "awhile" is just a few hours, sometimes it's the rest of its' life (quite a few times, it's been both at once,) but regardless, it sticks around. You never know what you'll find at our house. It's always an adventure. Always.

And if you're interested, you can read a bit about Herman the House Rooster in the articles section here on BYC. It's titled, appropriately, "Is There a Rooster in the House?"
